Labor Laws in Singapore
The Employment Act covers all employees under a contract of service with an employer, but there are exceptions. For example, Part IV of the Act which provides for rest days, hours of work, annual leave and other conditions of service, does not cover managers or executives. In general, managers and executives are employees with executive and supervisory functions.
The Employment Act does not apply to managerial & executive positions. Such a position is defined as one where a person has direct authority or influence in the hiring, firing, promotion, transfer, reward or discipline of other employees; or the main duties involve management and running of the business
