Major Achievements

The second largest champagne co-operative was almost bankrupt in 1994, (32Ms £ t/o, 4.8Ms £ loss). The task was simply to save the company. Carried out total financial reorganisation, reduced financial charges, brought new banks, concentrated investments on marketing efforts, especially in Europe. Convinced shareholders to open discussions with similar companies in the industry, and led negotiations to their successful end. In 97, gearing had dropped from 9.6% to 4.2%, financial charges reduced by 58%, sales of champagne had increased by 44% volume, 56% value, with a 25% share of exports. The group was then ready and actually merged with three other co-operatives of the same kind, giving birth to the largest co-operative group in this industry.
