Major Achievements
As the CEO of Aircel Ltd., I report to the Board of Directors and under its mandate, led one of the largest turnarounds in India over 15 months transforming the financials from a monthly negative EBITDA to positive using a strong financial strategy, CAPEX-light and OPEX-lean business model, new marketing plan, innovative distribution and active employee engagement initiatives. We moved Aircel from 7th (RMS) to 4th saving USD billions. ➦ Transformed India’s leading mobile operator with multi- Billion dollar revenues, 90 million subscribers, 8,000+ employees, and a massive distribution network (over 5,000 distributions and 500,000 retail outlets) ➦ Delivered wins by breaking away from the traditional pan-India approach and executing a unique go-to-market strategy of leadership circles, challenger circles and city-cluster circles, (2) using India’s largest financial restructuring and (3) a CAPEX-light / OPEX-lean business model. In 2016, we signed the largest M&A in India with Reliance Communications (RCOM) and closed the largest sale of spectrum in India by trading 4G/BWA spectrum. In this record-breaking work, our leadership team: ➦ Saved shareholders USD billions by refinancing multi- billion dollar debt involving 10+ Indian public sector banks and financial institutions and 3 foreign entities. This was a complex deal that took more than 2 years to execute and was recognized through 2 international achievement awards . ➦ Designed an effective media-management strategy to protect the brand, subsequently reducing negative publicity ➦ Created a growth-centric culture using transparency, professional management, pay-for-performance and mutual respect based in solid governance principles.
